Founded in 2020, Zina was imagined as a support institution dedicated to producing, researching, exhibiting and promoting contemporary art in Cluj-Napoca.
With a program balancing between exhibiting represented artists and invited curatorial projects, the gallery aims to provide long term support for the local and regional contemporary art scene, as well as to promote local artists in the international art scene.
The gallery aims to show new generations of artists with similar visions, who explore present-day issues of gender, ecology, technology, whereas employing a highly expansive range of mediums. The gallery’s collective also oftentimes encourages collaborations between the artists and role fluidity, with artists taking the curator’s seat or taking upon art direction decisions.
Recently, the Zina Project Space venue has been opened as an appendix to the gallery, and designed to host mainly curatorial projects which expand the gallery’s program.
